Alesi slapped with fine

For an unnecessary braking maneuver on the main straight at Barcelona Sunday, Jean Alesi (stern AMG-Mercedes) was given a penalty by the stewards of the meeting. For the strong and unexpected move, the Frenchman has to pay a fine of 7,000 euros. According to the stewards, Alesi had brought the following driver Mika Häkkinen in a dangerous situation by his action. For a similar maneuver, Uwe Alzen had to pay 10,000 Deutschmarks at Zandvoort in 2001.
