MF1 deny breaking test ban

(GMM) Midland-owned team 'MF1 Racing' has rejected suggestions that it last week broke formula one's August ban on testing.

With test driver Adrian Sutil at the wheel, the Silverstone-based squad clocked up 328 kilometers at the Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire last Thursday, in what was described by chief engineer Dominic Harlow as an 'aerodynamic test'.

Referring to the 2006 test agreement, Harlow said: ''Clause D specifically makes provision for 12 days of straight line aero testing outside the restrictions of the more widely understood Clause A.''

For the three-week summer break, Clause A specifically prohibits running between the Hungarian and Italian GPs.

Harlow added that the test, consisting of running up and down long runways, was mostly to aid 'the calibration of our wind tunnel'.
