Talladega repaving begins
Talladega Superspeedway is conducting a different type of race these days, trying to get a repaving project completed in time for the UAW-Ford 500 weekend in October. The project began just after daylight Tuesday, a day after the Aaron's 499 was completed.
Track officials say the work should be completed by Sept. 15, exactly three weeks before the fall race weekend begins with the ARCA/REMAX Series Food World 250.Sunmount Corporation, based in Justin, Texas, will head the project.
Crews will work seven days a week to make sure the project is completed in time, officials said.
The track has not been repaved since 1979.
