Chrysler to ask UAW for cuts

UAW officials from Chrysler Group plants across the country will meet in Dearborn today and Tuesday to discuss whether the union should give Chrysler the same health care concessions that it recently agreed to with General Motors Corp., according to a UAW delegate who will attend the meetings.

GM hourly workers gave tepid support last week in favor of a deal with the automaker that would force retirees to pay more of their health care costs. UAW leaders agreed to the changes following an in-depth analysis that showed the automaker needed help paying its medical costs. More at Detroit Free Press
