Ferrari kicks off Bahrain test

Today was the first day of testing this week for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, their third week of action since the end of the 2005 Formula One championship season last month, with the test team turning out in force at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain.

The day’s work centered on the two test drivers, Luca Badoer and Marc Gene, defining the best set-up for the cars at their disposal, namely an F2005 fitted with an engine modified to comply with the 2006 technical regulations and an F2004, fitted with a V8 power unit.

Between them, the drivers covered a total of 109 laps: 47 for Badoer and 62 (one on the short version of the track) for Gene. The best time of the day was set by Luca in 1.35.024, while Marc’s best time was a 1.35.408. Both drivers will continue testing here tomorrow. Ferrari
