Speedway to offer “no smoking” section

Lowe's Motor Speedway is kicking the tobacco habit. The racetrack in Concord says today it will offer a no smoking, alcohol-free family section at its October 15th Nextel Cup race. The track has never offered a family section at any other top-level NASCAR event. But track president "Humpy" Wheeler says officials want to emphasize that stock car racing is a family sport. A track spokesman says the speedway has gotten a lot of requests in recent years from fans who want to sit in a section without smoking and drinking. The family section will include 4100 of the track's 165,000 permanent seats and can be expanded for future races.
