Sorting out the NASCAR Silly Season

The NASCAR offseason usually means one thing – more shuffling than a game of cards. This year is no different with high-profile drivers moving their team shop addresses to another location. Confused? Don’t panic. We have a full breakdown below of where some of the biggest names in NASCAR are heading for the 2013 season.

Matt Kenseth

New Team: No. 20 Toyota at Joe Gibbs Racing

Former Team: No. 17 Ford at Roush-Fenway Racing

Having driven for car owner Jack Roush full-time in the NASCAR’S cup division since 2000, some would have a hard time believing that Kenseth would ever leave Roush. That time, however, has come for Kenseth, who’ll take his driving talents to a Joe Gibbs Racing operation that has had no problem winning races but has yet to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title since Tony Stewart did so in 2005.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

New Team: No. 17 Ford at Roush-Fenway Racing

Former Team: 2013 will be his rookie season in the Sprint Cup Series

The two-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion gets the nod to replace Kenseth in the 17 car. Stenhouse has won on a wide variety of tracks within the NASCAR Nationwide Series and is now faced with the challenge of translating that success to NASCAR’s top level of competition.

Joey Logano

New Team: No. 22 Ford at Penske Racing

Former Team: No. 20 Toyota at Joe Gibbs Racing

With Penske Racing having chosen Logano, the former Thursday Thunder champion, to be the new driver as a teammate to Brad Keselowski, it is now Logano’s time to shine. He moves from being on a three-car team with two of the sport’s biggest names in Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch to two-car operation at Penske Racing.

Kurt Busch

New Team: No. 78 Chevrolet at Furniture Row Racing

Former Team: No. 51 Chevrolet at Phoenix Racing

The rebuilding effort of Kurt Busch’s career takes a step up in moving to a Furniture Row team that has proven it can run near the front and contend for wins.
