Another open wheel driver moves to NASCAR

Another talented young open wheel star, Jason Bowles, who was one of the original Champ Car Stars of Tomorrow in 2000, who along with AJ Allmendinger, Jonathan Bomarito and a couple others tested a Champ Car for Team Rahal, is going the NASCAR route after gaining the wins and a rookie of the year award in the F2000 Zetec Championship didn't put him in play in the higher ranks of American open wheel racing … It's too bad that this continues to happen …

Bowles, the multi time California State, International Karting Federation, Stars of Karting and SKUSA Supernationals ICC Karting Champion, who has over the past several seasons raced, tested and won in race cars ranging from the F2000 Cooper Tires Zetec Championship, where he was Rookie of the Year in 2004, to an Indy Pro Series car and a test for Team Rahal in the Champ Car, recently this past season made the switch to a NASCAR Late Model program at Irwindale Speedway in Southern California where he wound up the 2006 season in the top ten in points for his rookie Late Model effort.

In 2007, Bowles will continue his transition to stock cars with the announcement that he will expand his program into the NASCAR Grand National West Series for team owner Bob Bruncati. This paring with Bruncatti and Bowles is a homecoming of sorts for Bowles who bought his first kart from Bruncati at the age of ten. Bowles’ effort will have support from Sunrise Ford and Turbo Torq. Bowles will also continue his Late Model program as well in an effort to gain as much valuable stock car experience as possible to move up the ranks to the higher levels with an eye on certain ARCA or Hooters Pro Cup events later this season.
