Andersen Racing to Field Indy Pro Series Car

Dan Andersen of Andersen Racing is pleased to announce that Joey Scarallo of Smithtown, N.Y. will drive an Andersen Racing entry in the 2007 Indy Pro Series.

Scarallo joins Andrew Prendeville of Morristown, N.J. as the drivers the Fairfield, N.J.-based team will use for the entire 16-race season. It begins Saturday, March 24 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla.

The Indy Pro Series is the official development series of IndyCar. All the races will be televised on ESPN2.

Scarallo has been successfully competing in Trans-Am cars since 2003, so he's getting back to his open-wheel roots in 2007.

He started driving competitively in karts at the age of 11 and quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the Long Island Karting Association, winning three championships with that organization in 1993. He's also won two national championships in the International Karting Federation.

He then advanced to Formula Ford 2000 cars, becoming the youngest Bertil Roos Formula Ford 2000 series champion ever in 1995. The following year he recorded three top-10 finishes in the tough U.S. Formula Ford 2000 national championship. He ran a limited schedule in 1997 before tacking the Toyota Atlantic series in an under-funded effort in 2000.

He got the chance to drive Trans-Am cars in 2003, snatched it, and was immediately impressive. He won the three-hour Puerto Rico Grand Prix in 2004. He had two podium finishes in 2005 (Portland and Cleveland), and finished fifth in the point standings in a very close point battle that year.
