Fierberg to retire from Formula 2000

UPDATE This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today. AR1.com has learned that veteran Formula 2000 driver Ira Fierberg has entered the Pacific F2000 Championship Race in Buttonwillow, CA on September 5-6 in the #27 Dave Freitas Racing entry. After narrowly missing the Pacific Championship in 2013, Fierberg took a year off and concentrated on surfing. In 2014, Fierberg returned to the track for a test day but thereafter suffered an ACL injury which required surgery.

Fierberg leads at Fontana in 2013

We hear that Pacific Formula 2000 runner up Ira Fierberg is not entered in the Pacific F2000 season opener January 18-19 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Fierberg will not defend his six consecutive race win streak at Auto Club Speedway.

In 2013 Fierberg won all three races at ACS in a triple race weekend, and in 2012 Fierberg swept pole and first place honors in both races.
