Rumor: Jimmie Johnson to race in 2022 Indy 500

Look for Jimmie Johnson to be entered in the 2022 Indy 500.

Initially reluctant to race on ovals in an IndyCar, Johnson now feels comfortable with the safety the Aeroscreen/Halo affords a driver.

Johnson will test on an oval at Texas Motor Speedway or Homestead before attempting to pass his Rookie Orientation test at IMS in the fall.

Coming from NASCAR. Johnson is more of an oval specialist, so we expect he will perform better on ovals than he has been on road courses in an IndyCar.
