MotoGP: Bastianini breaks Sepang MotoGP lap record as test concludes

Using a year-old bike, Gresini Ducati rider Enea Bastianini set a new unofficial MotoGP lap record of 1m58.131s at Sepang, as rain shortened the two-day test by several hours.

Light drizzle sent all the riders to the garage, before heavier rainfall effectively ended the day.

The Italian was 0.026s faster than Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro, who also went below the previous unofficial lap record – held by Danilo Petrucci since testing in 2019.

Jorge Martin (Pramac Ducati), Alex Rins (Suzuki), Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) rounded out the top six.
