IndyCar: Rookie Ilott tops final practice at Barber
Rookie Callum Ilott, driving for the minnow team Juncos Hollinger Racing, turned the fastest lap in final practice for the Honda GP of Alabama.
While this session was primarily used for teams to work on race setups, we do not know if Ilott was on a light fuel load or a full fuel load, but he did set his fast time on the softer red Firestones.
Ilott’s lap of 1m07.0906s was 0.1s faster than defending race winner Alex Palou’s #10 Ganassi Honda.
Palou’s Ganassi teammates Marcus Ericsson and Scott Dixon were 3rd and 4th, while a resurgent Alexander Rossi rounded out the top-5.
