IndyCar: Dixon tops sweltering Nashville morning warm-up

With fans, crew members and drivers dripping wet in the hit and humid Nashville air in August, Ganassi Honda driver Scott Dixon turned the fastest lap on the soft Firestone tires, but almost as fast on the hard Firestones was Scott McLaughlin in his Penske Chevy.

It’s unlikely anyone will be able to beat the Penske cars today on this washboard street circuit because their special Penske shocks are superior over the bumps and undulations.

Colton Herta was almost as fast as Dixon with the 2nd quick time, but he too was on the soft rubber.

Drivers will be looking to get off the alternative, soft tires that deteriorate quickly. This will be a primary tire race.
