Montagny for Magny Cours?

Speculation says Renault test driver Franck Montagny will not only wear yellow at Magny Cours' French GP next month, he'll also line up on the grid. The Frenchman filled the 'third' Jordan cockpit at Nurburg. ''Ask Mr. Briatore,'' said coy Jordan chief Colin Kolles. ''I think Franck did a good job and we'll try to find a solution.''

Renault's team principal, though, also baulked – but, tellingly, didn't lurch into denial – at the question in Montreal. ''He's doing Le Mans,'' Flavio said. ''Let's see, we'll see. I want to talk with Franck. Alex (Shnaider) is a good friend, (Colin) Kolles is a good friend. It depends on the driver, what he wants to do.''
