Spa: Maldonado wins chaotic race two

Pastor Maldonado outdragged local hero Jérôme d'Ambrosio on the long top straight on the last lap of this morning's race two at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit to claim victory after a superb race for both men in changeable weather conditions. Vitaly Petrov held on for the final podium position.

D'Ambrosio looked to have done enough to take his home win but Maldonado came out on top after blasting by a string of drivers to move up from P6 on the grid to first as the checkered flag dropped. Once again the rain came with the drivers sitting on the grid, but after a few anxious moments the entire field decided to risk taking the start on slicks as the rain let up.

With the driver's championship unchanged at the top Giorgio Pantano leads Senna by 11 points going into the final round at his home circuit of Monza, where he has had much success over the years, while Grosjean and di Grassi are all square seven points behind Senna on 53 points. With four drivers mathematically in contention, and GP2's reputation for throwing up the unexpected, the Monza round of the championship promises to be worth watching!
