Heidfeld likes it wet

BMW's Nick Heidfeld loves racing in wet conditions and that a few more rain-soaked races before the season ends would not inconvenience him.

Heidfeld displayed his ability to drive well in wet conditions when he finished 2nd in the British Grand Prix and fourth, once again in wet conditions, at his home Grand Prix at Hockenheim.

"I like driving in the rain," Heidfeld told BMW's website.

"Even in my karting days I liked driving in the rain best. My brother Sven and I always preferred to go out on the track when it wasn't that full – and that used to be the case when it was raining. And in Germany the rain falls all too often.

"You have to opt for a positive approach. If you say: 'Damn, it's raining,' you are tense right from the start. And if you make a minor mistake with this approach, you tend to say, 'I knew this would happen.'

"But if you like racing in the wet, you won't even begin thinking about these kind of issues."
