Milwaukee Mile statement on Champ Car schedule

UPDATE A reader responds, After going to the Milwaukee race for 12 years, which is in the middle of graduation time, and seeing little or no advertising for years, I can see why attendance was low and the race failed. This year in the Madison, WI. market Road America was advertised for 3 to 4 weeks. There were ticket giveaways on at least 3 radio stations, at least they tried to promote the race rather than give it lip service. Greg Sylvester, Waunakee, WI.

09/28/06 The Milwaukee Mile has hosted an event on the Champ Car World Series annually dating back to the series’ inception 27 years ago. Today's series schedule announcement ends the rich auto racing history connecting The Milwaukee Mile and the Champ Car World Series, due to the series moving away from oval tracks.

Some of the best open wheel races at America’s Legendary Oval have flown under the CART/Champ Car banner.

We appreciate the support Champ Car officials and teams have provided to us and our loyal fans. We continue to dialogue with Champ Car President Steve Johnson and will certainly entertain the opportunity to host a Champ Car event that would be amenable to both the series and The Milwaukee Mile in the future.

We encourage Wisconsin Champ Car fans to support their return to Road America in Elkhart Lake this coming season.
