NASCAR News: Larson to fill in for Zilisch in Texas Xfinity race
Kyle Larson will have an opportunity to pad his laps led lead in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
Larson will fill in for Connor Zilisch in the No. 88 Chevrolet after Zilisch suffered a lower back injury in a crash last week at Talladega Superspeedway.
Zilisch took to Twitter to thank Larson on Wednesday evening:
“Thank you to @KyleLarsonRacin for stepping up for me this weekend and everyone who has helped me through this process. Doing everything I can to be back as soon as possible”.
The last time ‘Yung Money’ sat in an Xfinity Series car, he drove it to victory lane in dominant fashion, leading 277 of 300 laps in the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy en route to a win at Bristol Motor Speedway. All told, Larson has led 408 circuits in just two Xfinity starts this season, more than any other driver by 73.
Larson has made three starts at Texas in the Xfinity Series with a best showing of third back in 2014. Since the start of 2017, Larson has made 27 starts in the series, accumulating 11 wins and 22 top fives in that time.
