IndyCar News: Kyffin Simpson wads up his Ganassi Honda at Indy
Chip Ganassi Racing driver Kyffin Simpson went airborne after spinning into the SAFER Barrier in Turn 4 during Fast Friday practice for the Indianapolis 500.
Simpson was unharmed, but his car is questionable for qualifying tomorrow.
Simpson was on a qualifying simulation run with high turbo boost on Fast Friday, lost control in the middle of Turn 4 and hammered the outside wall and briefly flew.

βIβm all good. Just a weird crash. Everything about it was weird,β said Simpson, whose team will prepare a backup car with the chassis used at the April Indy Open Test.
βEven from the out lap, just something didn’t really feel quite right. Never really felt the way I expected it to. We’ll go back look at some data, trying to figure out what might have been wrong and try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.β
McLaughlin Fastest So Far
Scott McLaughlin on the superior Penske Chevy turned a lap of 233.954mph and that was done without a tow,
McLaughlin sat on the pole last year, and in fact the superior Penske Chevys locked out the front row.
McLaughlin’s teammate, Will Power, was 2nd quick in the #12 Penske Chevy, at 291.983mph, again without a tow.
Kyle Kirkwood in the #27 Andretti Dallara was the fastest Honda at 231.818mph, third fastest without a tow.
However, happy hour is from 5pm to 6pm – when the sun goes down and the track cools, the speeds go up even more.

Kyffin Simpson was slowest so far, at 12.875mph in his Ganassi Honda before he crashed.
NASCAR hero Kyle Larson was only 33rd fastest at 214.223mph
