IHRA News: 2026 Schedule announced, and other news
The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has announced dates for its 2026 season schedule, featuring 12 events across the year. The season is set to kick off in January, followed by one date in February and one in March.
Meanwhile, International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) owner Darryl Cuttell has officially purchased Piedmont Dragway, adding another historic venue to his growing portfolio and reinforcing his long-term vision for the future of drag racing.

Piedmont Dragway, a storied track with decades of grassroots racing heritage, is the most recent drag strip to join the fold of IHRA tracks, which include Darana Raceway – Hebron (formerly National Trail Raceway) and Darana Dragway – Milan (formerly Milan Dragway).
Piedmont Dragway is set to benefit from significant investments in infrastructure, event development, and racer and fan experiences. Cuttell’s acquisition aligns with the IHRA’s strategic focus on strengthening facilities, expanding event offerings, and creating sustainable growth opportunities for the sport.
Cuttell, who purchased the IHRA in 2024, has steadily expanded his involvement in the sport through track ownership and partnerships designed to enhance the racer experience and broaden the IHRA’s reach. With Piedmont Dragway now part of that vision, racers and fans can expect facility improvements, increased event variety, and a continued emphasis on accessibility for all levels of competition.
Focusing on 2026 dates early ensures racers, teams, and fans can begin making plans for the season as the IHRA finalizes the locations with premier venues.
