Supercars News: More than 50 drivers at critical test day at Ipswich

Queensland Raceway will come alive today as all 27 Supercars hit the track for the highly anticipated pre-enduro test day.

The day will see all 54 drivers and co-drivers who will contest the upcoming Airtouch 500 at The Bend and the Repco Bathurst 1000 get valuable track time ahead of the two biggest events of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship.

This year’s Enduro Cup will see a star-studded line-up take on the Airtouch 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000, headlined by Supercars greats and Bathurst winners Craig Lowndes, Jamie Whincup, Garth Tander and Mark Winterbottom.

Bathurst winners Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood have moved together to Dick Johnson Racing and will both be on track, while reigning champion Will Brown again partners Sandown-winning co-driver Scott Pye. Whincup will pair with Broc Feeney, and Tander returns alongside Matt Payne.

One of the biggest shifts sees 2015 Supercars champion and 2013 Bathurst winner Winterbottom return to Tickford Racing to team with Cam Waters.

Lowndes will again join Triple Eight in a wildcard with Zach Bates who impressed on debut over the weekend, with Fabian Coulthard reuniting with Chaz Mostert at Walkinshaw Andretti United.

Defending Bathurst winner Todd Hazelwood says he can’t wait to get behind the wheel today of the DJR Ford Mustang.

Today is one of just two official test days permitted for Supercars teams in 2025, following a rules revision which consolidated testing into two all-in sessions – a pre-season hit-out at Sydney Motorsport Park, and this crucial pre-enduro gathering at Queensland Raceway.

While the primary aim of the day is to allow co-drivers to gain race mileage, some teams are expected to continue chasing performance gains, particularly those looking to bounce back after a challenging Century Batteries Ipswich Super440 weekend.

Track activity will run throughout the day, with all teams expected to complete extensive programs in preparation for the endurance season.
