Automotive News: Acura ZDX EV Discontinued After Single Model Year

Acura’s first foray into electric vehicles, the second-generation ZDX, launched as a 2024 model but has been abruptly discontinued after just one year, according to Car Dealership Guy.

The luxury EV, built on General Motors’ BEV3 platform, was produced alongside the Cadillac Lyriq at GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee plant. It shared mechanical roots with the Honda Prologue, Chevy Equinox EV, Chevy Blazer EV, and Cadillac Optiq, all manufactured at GM’s Ramos Arizpe facility.

Production of the ZDX at Spring Hill has been halted effective immediately, with all 2026 model-year allocations canceled. An internal memo cited by Car Dealership Guy explained the decision as a move to “better align our business with the needs of our customers.” Notably, the ZDX skipped the 2025 model year entirely, with every unit sold bearing the 2024 badge.

Had to practically give the car away

Despite respectable sales, the ZDX relied heavily on incentives to maintain momentum. Generous discounts from Acura and government rebates made leasing a ZDX nearly as affordable as a Honda CR-V Hybrid, with some buyers securing up to $30,000 off the MSRP.

Car shopping experts say consumers are rushing to buy electric vehicles as the clock winds down to just seven days before the federal EV tax credit expires on Sept. 30.

But some warn that once the incentives are gone, EV sales will all but halt.
