NASCAR News: The late Greg Biffle’s home burglarized

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — The estate of the late NASCAR legend Greg Biffle was burglarized last week, with thieves making off with $30,000 in cash and other items just three weeks after Biffle and his family perished in a tragic plane crash.

According to an incident report from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, the break-in occurred at Biffle’s Lake Norman home on Doolie Road in Mooresville sometime between January 7 and January 8, 2026. The burglary was reported on January 8 by family members, including Biffle’s mother-in-law Cathy Rose Grossu and his niece Jordyn Biffle Carpenter.

Stolen items included $30,000 in cash, a backpack valued at approximately $30, firearms, and possibly some NASCAR memorabilia. Investigators believe the thieves forced entry and accessed a safe inside the unoccupied residence.

No arrests have been made, and the case remains under active investigation. Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that deputies are reviewing digital evidence and conducting interviews.

The burglary adds further heartbreak to a community still mourning the loss of Biffle, 55, who died alongside his wife Cristina Grossu Biffle, their 5-year-old son Ryder, and 14-year-old daughter Emma Elizabeth (from a previous marriage) in a December 18, 2025, plane crash at Statesville Regional Airport. Three others—Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and Dutton’s son Jack—also perished in the incident involving a Cessna C550 owned by Biffle’s company.

Biffle, a 19-time NASCAR Cup Series winner and 2000 Truck Series champion, retired from full-time racing in 2016 but remained active in the sport and aviation. He was known for his humanitarian efforts, including flying relief missions following Hurricane Helene.

NASCAR fans and the racing community have expressed outrage over the burglary, with many calling it a despicable act during a time of profound grief.

A public memorial service for Biffle and the other crash victims was held recently in Charlotte.
