Asian Le Mans: 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi – Giorgio Roda And United on pole

In a commanding performance, Giorgio Roda clinched pole position for United Autosports’ #5 Oreca-Gibson in both upcoming races at the Asian Le Mans Series’ 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi. This marks the fourth and fifth pole starts for the team this season, with Roda posting the two fastest laps during the 15-minute qualifying session.

The session was interrupted by a red flag midway through when the #47 Cetilar Racing Oreca, driven by championship leader Roberto Lacorte, spun at the final corner and came to a halt in a hazardous spot. Lacorte managed to limp the car back to the pits, but as a penalty, the team will start from the rear of the LMP2 grid in both races, dealing a blow to their title hopes.

Upon resumption, Roda delivered a blistering 1:42.261 followed by an even quicker 1:42.179, edging out the field by 0.484 seconds. Jens Reno Moller in the #49 High Class Racing Oreca claimed second with a 1:42.663, relegating John Falb’s #20 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca to the second row for today’s race. However, Falb’s second-best lap earns him a front-row start for tomorrow.

Double race winner George Kurtz will line up fourth in the #4 Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca, 0.836 seconds off Roda’s pace. The third row features the #43 Inter Europol Competition and #25 Algarve Pro Racing Orecas.
