This reveal marks Toyota’s official entry into the Supercars Championship, with the Clayton-based team serving as the homologation squad for the Japanese giant. The cars, piloted by reigning champion Chaz Mostert and young gun Ryan Wood, blend sleek black bases with vibrant accents, signaling a fresh era after the team’s switch from Ford.

The liveries were first showcased to team partners at Toyota’s design studio in Melbourne last week, before Mostert’s Supra headed to Queensland for parity testing. Featuring clean black satin finishes, the designs highlight the GR Supra’s aggressive curves, with dominant GR branding on the rear quarter panels and the iconic Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia logos on the windscreen banners.

Mostert’s No. 1 car sports distinctive teal from Optus, prominently displayed on the sides and roof with the “Yes” signature, while Wood’s No. 2 integrates Truck Assist’s bold orange across the doors and roof. Both entries proudly display Mobil 1’s red Pegasus on the bonnet, continuing a 33-year partnership with the team.
The chassis themselves carry intriguing backstories: Mostert’s is the one previously tested in gray during wind tunnel sessions in the US, while Wood’s is the all-black unit that logged 5,000 km of engine testing across Australian circuits. Development spanned nearly two years, from clay models to race-ready machines, underscoring the intensive off-season effort with “hardly a day off since Adelaide,” as team CEO Bruce Stewart noted.

For Mostert, the No. 1—last used by the team in 2011 with James Courtney—represents his 2025 title triumph, though he’s chosen to keep his race suit and gear with his familiar No. 25 for a low-key approach. A separate merchandise line will celebrate the championship with the No. 1.
“It obviously means a lot to the team to run the No. 1 and 2; there’s a heap of history there,” Mostert said. “Ryan and I have an incredible opportunity this year, to be the first official Toyota Supercars drivers in Australia—we will be doing everything we can to make our mark on the sport.”

At just 22, Wood sees this as a “full-circle moment,” having started his circuit career in the New Zealand Toyota 86 Series. He recently competed in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy during the off-season.
“I’m so proud to be representing Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing for my third year,” Wood added. “The team have worked so hard… Being only 22 and helping lead a factory team for Toyota is super exciting.”
The reveal also highlights a robust partner network. Long-standing supporters like Mobil 1, Optus, and Truck Assist—each marking five years of co-naming rights—return alongside platinum partners such as Niterra Australia (NGK Spark Plugs, NTK Sensors), Chemical Guys, Ringers Western (new official workwear), and JB Caravans. New additions include BOC, Motorsport Distributors Group, Proudi, Kemppi, and Hoonigan, joining returnees like Coates, Employment Hero, Gearwrench, and Supercheap Auto. “We wouldn’t be able to go racing without them,” Stewart emphasized. “Every single partner plays a key role.”

Toyota Australia’s John Pappas, who has stepped up as the project’s front man following Sean Hanley’s shift to an advisory role, hailed the collaboration: “Together, we’ve taken this car from the road to the racetrack, pushing through setbacks and breaking new ground. This is just the beginning!”
Optus Chief Corporate Affairs & Marketing Officer Felicity Ross echoed the sentiment: “As we enter our fifth consecutive year… we’re incredibly proud to continue this journey. It’s about bringing fans and our customers closer to the energy and community that make this sport special.”
Ampol’s Brad Phillips added: “We’re thrilled to see the new GR Supra take to the track… This next chapter represents an exciting opportunity for Australian motorsport.”
NTI’s Jason Kibsgaard noted: “The new Truck Assist livery looks fantastic—bold but sleek… There’s a real sense of momentum heading into 2026.”
With five Toyotas set to hit the grid this season, including entries from Brad Jones Racing (which received its first Toyota engine last week and plans its own reveal soon), the competition is heating up. Mostert and Wood will shake down their Supras on February 18 at Sydney Motorsport Park for the first official test day. Mostert’s car is also slated for sessions at Queensland Raceway on Monday and Mount Panorama during the Bathurst 12 Hour weekend, building toward the season opener at the Sydney 500 from February 20-22.
As Stewart put it: “Toyota’s entry and these race cars are a game changer… We’ve got two stunning GR Supras ready for round 1, and a group of people as hungry as ever. We know the challenge in front of us, but we are ready for it all.” The 2026 season promises to be a thrilling ride for Walkinshaw TWG Racing and the Supercars world.
