TV News: Formula 1 extends its partnership with ESPN to broadcast F1 in Latin America and the Caribbean
Formula 1® has today announced an extension of its partnership with ESPN inc. to broadcast the sport across 18 countries in Latin America (excluding Mexico and Brazil) and the Caribbean through to the end of the 2028 season.
The renewed collaboration, which begins ahead of Formula 1’s season opener in Melbourne (6-8 March), will give fans access to every practice and qualifying session, F1 Sprint, Grand Prix, driver interviews and expert analysis. As part of a broader agreement, fans can also watch the support races from Formula 2 and Formula 3, as well as the all-female F1 ACADEMY™ series and the Porsche Super Cup.
Fans across Latin America (LATAM) and the Caribbean will be able to follow F1 across ESPN’s linear and digital platforms, including its OTT service, Disney+, on ESPN Premium in Chile, and via the Fox Sports networks in Argentina.
Formula 1 has seen strong growth across LATAM and in the Caribbean in recent years, as reflected globally with an ever-increasing interest in the sport. There are over 150 million fans in the region, a 5% increase on 2024, of which 45% are female and 43% are under 35.
Across F1, F2, and F3, LATAM is strongly represented on track, with 15 drivers competing for countries in the region, including Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto, and Mexican driver, Sergio Pérez. The sport has also experienced a surge of interest in Argentina, driven by the rise of local hero Franco Colapinto at Alpine. Argentina now boasts 17.2 million fans, making F1 the country’s most popular global sports league – surpassing both the NFL and NBA.
Ian Holmes, Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer of Formula 1, said:
“ESPN has been a trusted broadcast partner for many years, so we are excited to continue our collaboration, and take our sport to even more fans as we witness incredible growth across Latin America and the Caribbean. This has been helped enormously by the dedication and passion of the ESPN team to bring our fans the latest F1 action through world class broadcasting. We look forward to working with them into 2026 as the next generation of regulations come into force, which will shake up the competition and create huge excitement and drama.”
Michael Walters, Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions at ESPN, said:
“The extension of this agreement with Formula 1 strengthens a strategic alliance that reinforces ESPN’s commitment to excellence in sports content. Through comprehensive, multiplatform coverage, we will continue bringing the passionate audiences of Spanish-speaking South America, Central America, and the Caribbean the highest level of international motorsport.”
