IndyCar News: Qualifying Order for Firestone GP of St Petersburg

The first Firestone Fast Six qualifying session is just hours away for the NTT INDYCAR Series drivers.  This format is used on road and street courses throughout the entire season.

The IndyCars are split into two groups based on practice time from Friday and Saturday.

The first group of 12 cars will go out for ten minutes to determine the fastest.  Then the second group of 13 cars will do the same in their ten minutes.

The fastest six cars from both groups go out for six minutes to determine the fastest speed among them.

In the final session, the six fastest cars will have six minutes to get on track and set their fastest laps to determine who will start the race on the pole.

Here are the groups for today’s qualifying:

Can Will Power earn the pole after his crash this morning in Practice 2?  The Australian has earned nine poles in St Petersburg in the last 16 years.

Stay tuned for updates after the qualifying run.
