Formula 1 Extends Broadcast Partnership with Kayo Sports in Australia Through 2027 and Beyond
In a move set to thrill motorsport enthusiasts Down Under, Formula 1 has announced a multi-year extension of its broadcast deal with Kayo Sports, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the world’s premier racing series for Australian fans starting from the 2027 season.

The agreement, revealed today, builds on the existing partnership with Fox Sports Australia, which is accessible via Kayo Sports and Foxtel. Subscribers will continue to enjoy live broadcasts of every race, qualifying session, and practice in stunning 4K resolution—provided they have compatible devices and a premium subscription. The package also includes exclusive live feeds and on-demand “F1 Minis,” short-form replays designed to keep viewers immersed in the action without missing a beat. Foxtel customers will have access to the same high-quality coverage, while the F1TV app remains integrated into Foxtel’s set-top boxes for seamless streaming.
Ian Holmes, Formula 1’s Chief Media Rights and Broadcast Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the renewed collaboration. “We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with the Foxtel Group so that our fans in Australia can continue to enjoy comprehensive coverage of Formula 1 on Kayo Sports and Foxtel,” Holmes said. “The quality of the product and immersive experience they provide for fans takes them closer to the action, continuing to keep spectators on the edge of their seats.”
Holmes highlighted the sport’s evolving landscape as a key factor in the deal’s timing. “With new regulations, new teams, new drivers, new race locations and more, there’s never been a more exciting time to engage with the sport,” he added. “As a forward-thinking, ambitious and technology-focused business, we’re thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Foxtel in taking our spectacular product to more and more fans across Australia.”
From the broadcaster’s side, Foxtel Group CEO Patrick Delany underscored Kayo Sports’ dominance in the Australian sports streaming market. “Kayo Sports is Australia’s sport leader with the best live sport, and our extension with Formula 1 further cements our position as the premier destination for both local and international motorsport,” Delany stated.
He emphasized the mutual growth fostered by the partnership. “This extension continues our commitment to growing F1 in Australia and strengthening our fans’ connection to it,” Delany said. “We are partners in growth, and for more than a decade we’ve proudly supported the sport’s momentum, bringing fans closer to the action every season. That shared ambition continues to deliver results, with engagement reaching new heights and the 2025 season becoming our most watched season ever.”
Delany also touted the ad-break-free viewing experience: “We’re pleased to continue delivering comprehensive Formula 1 coverage to our subscribers, with every race live in 4K, alongside our popular F1 Minis, giving Australians the most comprehensive coverage of the sport. And with racing shown ad-break free, fans won’t miss a single moment.”
The extension comes amid heightened anticipation for the 2026 Formula 1 season, which is poised to be one of the most transformative in the sport’s history. New technical regulations are expected to intensify on-track battles, while the addition of fresh teams, engine suppliers, drivers, and race venues promises to elevate global excitement and fan engagement.
Australian viewers can look forward to the 2026 campaign kicking off on home soil with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 6-8. Network 10 will retain its role as the free-to-air broadcaster for this iconic event, making it accessible to a broader audience.
For those tuning in via Kayo Sports’ 4K streams, a compatible device, Kayo Premium subscription, and a minimum broadband speed of 25Mbps are required to experience the full high-definition glory.
