Nick Cassidy storms to pole at Jarama

Formula E News: Nick Cassidy storms to pole at Jarama

The 2026 Formula E season continued with Round 6 at the historic Circuito del Jarama for the Madrid E-Prix. After a damp FP2, qualifying unfolded on a drying but still tricky track, producing one of the most competitive and unpredictable sessions of the year.

Citroën Racing’s Nick Cassidy delivered a masterclass. The New Zealander progressed flawlessly through the groups and duels, setting a stunning lap of 1:37.141 in the final to claim his first pole of the season — and Citroën’s first-ever Formula E pole. He narrowly defeated Nyck de Vries (Mahindra Racing) by just 0.266 seconds.

António Félix da Costa (Jaguar TCS Racing) showed blistering one-lap pace to lock in third, while Nissan’s Norman Nato continued his strong qualifying form in fourth. Several big names were knocked out early, including Mitch Evans, Jake Dennis and Jean-Éric Vergne, setting up a fascinating race from further back. Home hero Josep Maria Martí fought hard for CUPRA KIRO but will start 12th.
