Bomarito to help with Blood Drive

Monterey, California – Champ Car Atlantic Championship driver Jonathan Bomarito will be doing much more than just testing his race car this week at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The 25-year-old racer from Monterey will also help to host a blood drive benefiting a local hospital during Champ Car Spring Training activities at the track.

Last week it was announced that Bomarito will return to the Fresno, California-based PR1 Motorsports team in 2007 for his third Atlantic season. Bomarito will test his #23 Miracle Sealants PR1 machine on Wednesday and Thursday, March 7-8 at Mazda Raceway. But both he and teammate Mike Forest, who will pilot the #32 Miracle Sealants entry at the test, will also assist with a blood drive co-sponsored by Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The blood drive will take place at the hospital’s mobile unit, located next to the PR1 Motorsports transporter in the paddock at Mazda Raceway, from 12-4 p.m. PT on both Wednesday, March 7 and Saturday, March 10. Saturday’s activities at the track are free and open to the public. Anyone who donates blood will get tickets to the U.S. Sports Car Invitational at Mazda Raceway, May 18-20.

The 750hp cars of the Champ Car World Series will test at the fabled road course on March 9-10 after the Atlantics spend two full days on track.

“It’s great to be able to test our Atlantic cars at my local track and such an awesome place like Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca," said Bomarito. “But it makes it even more special to be able to give something back to the community. Hopefully fans will take this opportunity to come out on Saturday, see the Champ Cars up close and take time to give blood. I also challenge everyone in the Champ Car community to participate and give blood as well. This is our opportunity to do something for a worthy cause and I want to thank both Mazda Raceway and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital for their cooperation in making this happen."
