F1 celebrated its milestone 1,000th race at this year’s Chinese Grand Prix, with Shanghai playing host to Round 3 of this year’s World Championship.

To mark the occasion, Mobil 1 The Grid look back at safety development from the 1950's to the present day, including the introduction of full face helmets, carbon fiber monocoques and the halo.
