Allmendinger to also run Detroit

AJ Allmendinger will continue his Izod IndyCar Series effort beyond the Indianapolis 500, a senior Team Penske official said Saturday.

Allmendinger, who will start 10th in Sunday’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, will compete in the April 21 race in Long Beach, Calif., and the June 1-2 doubleheader at Detroit’s Belle Isle circuit.

There has been no formal announcement regarding Allmendinger’s IndyCar schedule, although the team official told Autoweek that they’re up to four IndyCar races with him.
