Overheard at Long Beach – Saturday 2 (Herta Test Team)

UPDATE This rumor, which we broke back in April, is upgraded to 'fact' based on today's announcement – INDYCAR announced that Indianapolis 500 winners Dan Wheldon and Bryan Herta Autosport have been selected as the test organization for the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series prototype chassis. 04/17/11 We also heard on Saturday that Bryan Herta Autosport is a leading candidate to provide the test team for the 2012 prototype IndyCar due to hit the track in August. As reported in our story yesterday on Tony Cotman's 2012 car update, the test team cannot be a current IndyCar team. We also hear that Walker Racing has thrown their hat in the ring as well.
