UPDATE If and when McLaren becomes a full-time IndyCar team, planned for 2020, then Chevy will gain at least two back in their column, bringing the total up to 13 for Chevy.

So Honda's move to steal Harding Steinbrenner from Chevy was a preemptive strike to keep the car count in their favor.

12/06/18 With the Steinbrenner Harding Racing team switching to Honda next year, the regular season car count has swung in Honda's favor 15 to 11 for Chevy. Of course Chevy will add more cars for the Indy 500 as will Honda.
