Kevin Magnussen has become the second driver to be disqualified from the United States Grand Prix.

Magnussen’s Haas team was summoned after technical checks discovered that his VF-18 had consumed more than the maximum 105kg of fuel during the race.

Magnussen had classified in ninth position but he has now been stripped of that result.

It is the second time this season that a Haas driver has been excluded, following Romain Grosjean’s Monza disqualification for a non-confirming floor.

Haas has been reminded of its right to appeal.

Magnussen’s disqualification follows that of Esteban Ocon, who was also disqualified for a breach of fuel flow regulations on the opening lap.

It means Sergio Perez has been prompted to eighth, with Brendon Hartley elevated to ninth, marking the best result of his Formula 1 career.

Marcus Ericsson picks up the final point for Sauber.
