Portugal (Vila Real) – Race 1 – Start Crash

The opening race of the World Touring Car Cup in Vila Real, Portugal, Saturday had to be stopped on the first lap after a huge crash halted the event for two hours. Pole-sitter Rob Huff and his Sebastien Loeb Racing teammate Mehdi Bennani came together exiting a curve. The rest of the field behind came around the blind curve only to find the track blocked. Most of the field stacked up behind them. In all 27 cars were involved.
