Monday: Seen at Sebring testing

UPDATE #7 The last original Indy Racing League driver is heading for sports cars. SPEEDTV.com reports that Scott Sharp is taking his Patron sponsorship to Highcroft Racing in the American Le Mans series for 2008. Sharp, who turns 40 in February, will team with David Brabham and replace Stefan Johansson on the Acura-powered P2 team owned by Duncan Dayton. SPEEDTV.com

12/08/07 AutoRacing1.com has confirmed that Sharp was absolutely in Europe. In reading the lawsuit Sharp asked Rahal to do a program for him in the ALMS but they were unable to get a factory program together so he was stuck staying in the IRL which Sharp does not want to do. In reading the lawsuit Rahal appears to have the upper hand and we predict he will win the lawsuit. BTW, the Patron deal was for $5.2M per year.

12/08/07 This rumor is still being denied by the Sharp camp.

12/08/07 Ryan Hunter-Reay's teammate, Scott Sharp, is seeking to not be his teammate, and Rahal Letterman Racing has fought back with a lawsuit in the United States District Court Southern District of the Florida Miami Division that alleges Sharp, a Jupiter resident, has breached his contract and another with his sponsor, Patron Spirits, for interference. Sharp also has filed suit, claiming Rahal Letterman is not committed to IndyCar racing and cites the team's release of several key personnel.

Both may be looking to jump to the Champ Car World Series. Sharp was spotted at Sebring when the CCWS was testing there and Patron is interested in that series and the American Le Mans Series. Sun-Sentinel.com [Editor's Note: It's interesting that when we rumored below that Sharp was seen at the Champ Car test in Sebring it was denied (covered up) but it seems this reporter saw him too.]

09/25/07 Nelson Philippe was hanging around the Sebring paddock yesterday and word is he still would like to land a Champ Car ride. There is some question whether Jan Heylen has enough money to finish the year out.

09/24/07 Been told that Scott Sharp is in Scotland, so he must have a twin brother.

09/24/07 David Martinez is testing today. Servia is in Tracy's car. Tracy will test tomorrow.

09/24/07 Scott Sharp is at Sebring this morning with his Patron people for the Champ Car testing. They (both Sharp and his sponsor Patron) are rumored to be leaving the Rahal Letterman Racing IRL team. Are they here just to watch or might one read more into this…..we will try to find out…………All teams are here except RuSPORT and Rocketsports………..Oriol Servia is in the Forsythe car. We would have thought David Martinez would be getting some seat time. Maybe later today or tomorrow…..
