Power tops opening IndyCar practice in Alabama

As drivers struggled for grip on the green undulating Barber Motorsports Park road course outside of Birmingham, Alabama, Will Power and his Penske crew hit the setup just right and easily topped opening practice for the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama.
Power's lap of 1m07.599s was 3/10ths faster than Penske teammate Josef Newgarden, the defending race champion.
Scott Dixon, Max Chilton and Ed Jones rounded out the top-5.
Both points leader Alexander Rossi and Newgarden had spins that brought out the red flag.
