SPN once again led the industry in Sports Emmy Award nominations, earning 54 for '17.

"SC Featured" and "E:60" each received eight nominations, tied for the most of any single entry along with the Army-Navy game on CBS. ESPN's 54 nominations come from ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, ESPN Deportes, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, ESPN Goal Line, SEC Network and WatchESPN.

The winners will be announced May 8, in N.Y. (ESPN).

DEADLINE's Erik Pedersen noted among the network groups, CBS and Fox were a "distant second with 31 noms apiece, followed by NBC Sports Group (28) and Turner Sports (19)."

Among the other programs "scoring the most nominations" were CBS’ Patriots-Jaguars AFC Championship, which got six, and the '17 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament — which "aired on CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV — with five."

Sports Emmy Awards Senior VP Steve Ulrich said, "This looks to be a wide-open competition this year. There are newcomers in many categories, and coupled with (IMG Media Exec VP) Barry Frank receiving the Sports Lifetime Achievement Award, it should be an exciting evening." DEADLINE.com
