Friday Afternoon Test at ISM

UPDATE There is a new LED panel on the Ganassi cars today. AR1 asked what is up with the different screen and we were told that it is new for 2018. The numbers still light up green while in the pits and red with the position of the car but the numbers are a bit larger.

The first test session of the day has been clean. No incidents so far. The top fastest drivers are Tony Kanaan driving for Foyt Racing at 186.112, Graham Rahal is second at 185.295, Scott Dixon is third at 184.768, Ryan Hunter-Reay is fourth at 184.376 and Matheus Leist is fifth at 184.270.

Kanaan jokes with his new boss, AJ Foyt

Good afternoon from ISM in Phoenix. The temperature is 75 degrees with blue skies. I almost feel guilty that I am missing the heavy snow falling in the Midwest. I said almost! The three hour session just started with only 2 cars going out. And we have our first yellow for track inspection. About half of the series have cars in pit lane.

Interesting thing today should be can the new car pass another car on the track at speed. IndyCar has been cautious about letting the cars tangle before now because of the amount of parts that would be needed if someone were to crash. That issue should be behind us now and some passing should take place soon.

I will keep you updated as the session unfolds.
