Massa may skip qualifying

(GMMf1NET) Ferrari's Felipe Massa, already demoted ten places, could opt to start the Malaysian grand prix from the back.

Ferrari sources clarified that the decision – to possibly sit the Brazilian out of qualifying – would already have been made before the start of free practice on Saturday.

''The idea would be to give him a lot of fuel,'' said technical director Ross Brawn, probably hoping to emulate McLaren's strategy in Bahrain that pushed Kimi Raikkonen from last to third.

Another benefit of sitting out qualifying would be to conserve engine mileage and tires.
