End of F1-war in sight?

Much of F1's political war could be called off as early as August 31. It's then, a Wednesday, when formula one teams and the carmakers' group – 'GPMA' – are set to next meet with FIA president Max Mosley to mull over a possible 'compromise' over regulations for the future.

Peace in that arena, it is believed, might pave a road to a similar, commercial resolution, averting the 'breakaway' menace and settling the dispute over '08 — the start of a new contract.

At present, an eerie silence looms over the political combat-zone — it's a go at diplomacy. ''Nobody wants two series. Nobody,'' said Minardi's Paul Stoddart. ''We have to find a solution. It may not work, but we've got to try.''
