Champ Car owners wanted to delay new car

AutoRacing1.com hears that some team owners asked to delay the new Champ Car until 2008, however, as we understand it, Champ Car has decided that the new car will be implemented in 2007 as planned. Some of the chassis are from 2000 and are like flexible flyers, i.e. chassis and suspension mounting points are getting fatigued and the flex, similar to the old 'Flexible Flyer' snow sleds is causing some teams difficulty in getting a consistent setup in their cars, which is why the winning teams buy new chassis every year and the losing teams use old, cheaper models.
