Kenseth out at Joe Gibbs for 2018 — and maybe NASCAR? (3rd Update)

UPDATE It is clear in this interview that Joe Gibbs had to let Matt Kenseth go and replace him with Erik Jones because of money, although he never says it directly, it's obvious. When in doubt, follow the money……

07/07/17 Added video below where Kenseth says he has no ride for 2018.

07/07/17 NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth on Friday said that he has "no job lined up next year and likely has no future at Joe Gibbs Racing."

Kenseth said he hopes to "still be racing" next year, adding, "I got some wins left in me and hopefully race for championships."

Erik Jones is "likely going to be moved" into Kenseth's No. 20 car from Furniture Row Racing, Gibbs' sister team. AP

07/07/17 Published reports by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel report that Matt Kenseth won't be returning to Joe Gibbs Racing for next season. “As of today I do not have a job for next year" the J-S quotes Kenseth as saying. “I certainly hope to still be racing."

JGR is winless this year in spite of running 4 teams. He joins a growing list of other top names of Kenseth's era are leaving the series, which includes Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and, at the end of the year, Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Kenseth was the series champion in 2003.
