Sauber to race – JV

Jacques Villeneuve has suggested that Sauber will contest Sunday's F1 grand prix at Indianapolis. The Canadian said it's more a 'car-tire-setup' problem for some Michelin teams, rather than an inherent tire fault per se. ''It's always been two teammates having problems,'' the 34-year-old noted. ''We are quite safe with our tires. I think we are ok.''

The latest suggested solution to the debacle, meanwhile, is to allow every car – Bridgestone teams included – an extra set of tires for the race. JV's teammate, Felipe Massa, reckons the Indy turn's abrasive surface might have something to do with the failures. ''The load is a lot higher on the banking,'' said the Brazilian, ''and the temperature then goes up a lot.'' GMMf1NET
