Andrew Ranger eyes F1

Jordan F1 team owner Alex Shnaider says that he would like to have a Russian and a Canadian driving for the Midland F1 team in the future. The Toronto-based Russian is a naturalized Canadian and would love to see a driver from each country in his cars. Shnaider is understood to have met recently with rising Canadian star Andrew Ranger, who has been making a good impression this year in Champ Car. There were rumors in the Canadian press that Ranger may move to GP2 next year as he is keen to make his name in Formula 1 rather than have a career in the United States. Grandprix.com [Editor's Note: If Ranger moves to GP2 and then to F1 Champ Car will have lost a promising young Canadian, leaving Alex Tagliani as the lone Canadian if Paul Tracy moves to NASCAR as rumored. Perhaps this will open the door for another Canadian, Michael Valiante, who is fast and can win races (given the right team) but who currently lacks the financial backing. Perhaps he will get the ride with Dale Coyne to replace Oriol Servia.]
