Red Bull to snub GPWC?

An energy drink magnate may prove a spanner in the GPWC group's 'breakaway' works. Dietrich Mateschitz, the Austrian billionaire and owner of Red Bull Racing, hinted that he will be siding with Bernie Ecclestone and Ferrari in the battle for F1's future. ''I think the purely works teams will fade away,'' he opined, ''and the private teams will again become strong.'' But asked directly whose side Red Bull is on, Mateschitz said his team – like Jordan, not yet formally signed up for either option – is 'not a manufacturer.'
