Our sources tell us that Kevin Kalkhoven, Dick Eidswick and Paul Gentilozzi met with Ford's Dan Davis on Saturday at Daytona and ironed out a final deal that will see Ford once again sponsor the Champ Car series in 2005 with Ford on the engines cam covers. We hear Ford wanted a three year deal but Kalkhoven wanted to do a one-year deal because he may have another manufacturer(s) to co-badge the Cosworth engines in 2006 and beyond. We have not heard what length deal was finally agreed to, but before the meeting Dan Davis was miffed at Champ Car because the negotiations were so protracted. However, after the meeting Davis was all smiles and said everything was ironed out. We await a formal announcement from Ford and Champ Car.
