DPis Given Power Increase Ahead of Roar

The heavy American DPis can't compete with the LMP2 cars from Europe unless they get help

IMSA’s new DPi platform has received a power increase ahead of this weekend’s Roar Before the 24.

The sanctioning body released Wednesday a revision to its initial Balance of Performance table, confirming a 1.2mm larger air restrictor for the Cadillac DPi-V.R and boost increases across all RPM levels for the turbocharged Mazda RT24-P and Onroak Nissan DPis.

It’s understood the changes have been made to bring the DPis in line with the Gibson-powered LMP2 cars, which serves as the performance baseline in the new-look Prototype class.

No performance-related changes have been made to the Ligier JS P217, Oreca 07 or Riley Mk. 30 LMP2 cars.

IMSA has also made updates and clarifications to DPi and LMP2 aerodynamic settings, specific for the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The only notable BoP change in the other classes comes in GT Le Mans, with the minimum rear wing angle of the new Porsche 911 RSR having now been set at 0 degrees.
